What’s free here, and what isn’t, said plainly
Capture is free forever: mileage, expenses, and receipt scans within monthly scan limits. That’s not a trial.
Output is paid: the tax-ready mileage report, CSV exports, invoicing, the Tax Set-Aside Calculator, and the accountant seat live on Solo at $9/month. If you switch, you’ll capture every drive free, and when filing season comes and you want the report your accountant files from, that’s the paid part. We’d rather tell you that here than have you find a paywall in February.
What MileIQ does well
MileIQ’s drive detection is mature and its swipe-to-classify flow is one of the simplest anywhere. If unlimited automatic tracking with minimal interaction is worth $139.92+/year to you, it remains a good single-purpose tool. The case for switching isn’t that MileIQ got worse, it’s that the price roughly doubled in under a year, and mileage is probably not your only tracking problem.
What switching looks like
- Sign in free, no card. Your capture surface (mileage, expenses, receipts) works from day one.
- Export your report from MileIQ before your subscription lapses. You will use that CSV in the next step, and it stays with your tax records either way.
- Import it here, free. Upload the CSV at your mileage page and your drives come along.
- Capture from today forward in Savi Tools, free.
Bring your MileIQ history with you.
Export your MileIQ report, import the CSV, and your drives come along: Business or Personal classification preserved, purpose notes carried over, and every business drive valued at the IRS rate in effect on that drive’s date, even across midyear rate changes. MileIQ’s own export does not reprice history; this does. Re-uploading the same or an overlapping report never double-counts a drive, and unreadable rows are itemized rather than silently dropped, so it is safe to redo. Free for every account, on the web.
Import your MileIQ drivesWhen you want the outputs
Solo includes the mileage report, invoicing, receipt OCR, CSV exports, profitability reports, and the Tax Set-Aside Calculator. Upgrading happens on the web, a note for mobile users: the app itself stays capture-only.
Unlock reports with Solo — $9/monthFAQ
- Is mileage tracking really free? What is the catch?
- Capture is free with no drive cap. The paid part is output: reports, exports, invoicing, Accountant Mode, and sync, starting on Solo at $9/month. That split is the whole model, stated up front.
- Can I import my MileIQ history?
- Yes, free, on any account. Export a report from MileIQ, upload the CSV on your mileage page, and every drive becomes a Savi Tools trip: classification preserved, business drives valued at the IRS rate for each drive’s date. It is a file upload, not a connection to MileIQ, so you export your own data first. Imported drives are marked as imported and carry no GPS traces; route-level evidence applies to drives captured natively here.
- How does the price compare?
- MileIQ Unlimited is $13.99/month or $139.92/year billed annually. Savi Tools captures mileage free; the full Solo toolkit is $9/month, $108/year. (MileIQ prices retrieved July 28, 2026.)
- Does Savi Tools do automatic drive detection?
- Savi Tools captures trips by GPS trip capture and manual entry.
- Is my mileage deduction handled for me?
- We track your miles and build the report; the deduction itself is between you, the IRS’s rules, and your accountant. We don’t give tax advice, we make sure the number you bring to filing is right and provable. Never get surprised at tax time.
Savi Tools helps you track deductible mileage and business finances; it does not provide tax advice. MileIQ is a trademark of its owner; prices shown were retrieved from MileIQ’s public pricing page on the date noted and may change. Consult your accountant about your situation.
